The difference between a Smoothie / Milkshake / Frappe ?

It is common to think that smoothies, milkshakes and frappes are all very similar and essentially the same think, right? Well even though they all share similarities in the way they are made, with the combination of various items being blended into one drink, there are distinct differences that split them all apart.

Smoothie: A smoothie is a thick smooth drink that consists of various fruits with the combination of milk or yoghurt to be blended together to create a healthy beverage. The key feature of the smoothie is the use of fruit and syrups.

Milkshakes: Milkshakes are pretty self explanatory through its name. The beverage is based around the use of milk mixed with syrups or powders and then shaken in order to combine all the ingredients into one light and milky drink.

Frappe: A frappe is commonly seen as a more elegant version of a milkshake as the final product is thicker and contains more flavour. The main difference is that Frappes are essentially a milkshake but with the addition of ice cream to give it a thicker texture.
